Bought a new bird feeding get-up. $200 but it stops the squirrels stealing the nuts, which means that there are always some for the birds. Blue Jays like nuts, so we got a few of those. Pics later when I remember to upload them. Some decent close-ups of other birds too, and I got a chippie to sit on my chest as I was sitting reading the local paper. He wanted nuts, and I think he's used to me giving them out. They run up my leg now, and I think I'm sort of their daddy. Cute little buggers.

The squirrels are stymied by the new feeder, so have started to creep closer to me when I have peanuts. They stare at me from about 6 feet away - they're probably wondering if I'm trying to grab them as they go for the nuts.

I can get to about 4 feet from the new feeder and chickadees still fly in to take seed. Once or twice they'll go for a small unshelled peanut, or sunflower seed. I took a few snaps close up, but focussing is still a bit fiddly with this digital camera. I may have to look for an SLR camera - I wonder how much digital SLRs go for thesedays.

In other news, it's getting colder. Equinox is this week so that's the start of autumn ...

Vancouver vacation next month. REALLY looking forward to that!

Started to play with scripts and stuff for automating the upload of photos from the camera to our photo share drive at home.

Fairly uneventful weekend really, but full of bird-type fun.
